Fiji is an island nation, a republic, in the South Pacific Ocean, west of Tonga and south of Tuvalu and east of Vanuatu. Fiji is an archipelago of some 322 islands, around 106 inhabited.
The islands are mountainous and covered with tropical forest, and the climate is tropical and warm most of the year. Fiji has a land area of 18270 sq km, with a population of some 836,000.
